Norwegian royalty to visit Fiji next month

AS part of his tour of the Pacific,

will be officially visiting Fiji from next month, April 8-9, 2019.

According to a Government statement, Prince Haakon will be accompanied by the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Dag-Inge Ulstein, on his tour of Fiji, Tonga and Samoa.

This first-ever visit to Fiji by the Crown Prince is a sign of the soaring partnership between Norway and Fiji.

The visit is anticipated to advance Fiji and Norway’s bilateral interests and explore cooperation on issues relating to sustainable development.

As nations with historic and present ties to oceans and marine resources, Fiji and Norway share a commitment to the protection of our oceans and seas.

During the two day official visit, Prince Haakon and Mr Ulstein will meet the President of Fiji, Jioji Konrote and senior government officials.

Fiji established its foreign diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Norway on January 18, 1977.

In recent years, the two nations have developed cooperation in the areas of ocean preservation and climate action.
