Tower Insurance Fiji yesterday hosted visiting New Zealand Prime Minster Christopher Luxon as part of his visit to Fiji focused on trade and economic opportunities.

PM Luxon and his delegation toured the insurer’s Suva Hub, which was opened earlier this year as part of its 150-year celebrations.

Tower chief executive officer Blair Turnbull said the insurer’s Fiji staff were proud to host Mr Luxon alongside other dignitaries including the New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji Charlotte Darlow and New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner, Pacific David Dewar.

“We were pleased to demonstrate that doing business in Fiji makes good business sense. Tower is committed to creating value for Fijian and other Pacific communities via employment opportunities and by bolstering economic and personal resilience through offering affordable and accessible insurance services,” Mr Turnbull said.

The tour started with garlanding of Prime Minister Luxon and covered Tower’s investments in Fiji’s talent, with a team of 300 now based in Suva and representing all core business functions.

Tower’s Fiji-based leadership team presented the company’s leading digital customer experience and the ways Tower is innovating to address climate change and affordability challenges.

The tour concluded with a farewell song Isa Isa Vulagi Lasa Dina, sung by the Tower choir.

Tower Insurance, a New Zealand company, has been in Fiji since it opened in New Zealand 150 years ago.
