Members of the Lakeba Rugby Club received a timely boost for the FMF Escott Shield competition after being sponsored with a new set of jerseys last Friday.
The club’s new set of jerseys were sponsored by Fijian-owned company ‘8th Man’ based in England.
Club manager Roko Sowani said the sponsorship of the jerseys boosted the morale of the players in the side.
“Receiving a new set of jerseys did boost the boy’s morale, and it will certainly boost their performance on the field,” he said. “The company is a fan-based organisation run to support the Fiji teams when they come to play in the United Kingdom.”
According to Sowani, the side has been partners with 8th Man for some time, after the company sponsored the team’s first set of jerseys when they joined the FMF Suva Rugby Union’s Koroturaga competition in 2022.
“They sponsored us back in 2022, so we’ve been partners for more than three years now,” Sowani said.
Fijian musician Georgina Ledua presented the jerseys to the Lakeba side on behalf of the 8th Man at Sowani’s residences in Suva.
“We want to thank Lorraine Raiwalusuka, one of the owners of 8th Man, for their support in providing us with new jerseys. We needed them because our old ones were getting torn, so this sponsorship was a timely one,” Sowani said.
