Wainibuku Hart Primary School students were given the opportunity to learn, grow and engage through the KICS Program yesterday, with Netball Fiji continuing its push to strengthen grassroots development around the country.
The program, led by Fiji National Sports Commission in Partnership with Netball Fiji’s sports development team, focused on introducing students to important life skills through sport, teamwork and positive engagement.
Netball Fiji Sports Development Officer Luisa Rakavono said grassroots programs such as KICS were important because they helped build confidence and create opportunities for children from a young age.
“The purpose of programs like KICS is not only to introduce sports, but also to create a safe and positive environment where students can grow, learn and express themselves.”she says.
She said taking these programs into schools and communities allowed young people to feel included and encouraged.
“We want children to know that they are supported and that there are opportunities for them through sport and education. These visits also help us identify talent and continue developing netball at community level.”
The initiative forms part of Netball Fiji’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community connections and developing the next generation through sport.
