Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua fullback Atelaite Buna is ready to take on the Melbourne Rebels tonight at AAMI Park.
The speedy player, who was named player of the match last week, is set to wear the No. 15 jersey once again.
“It will be a tough game, but we need to stick to our game plan,” Buna stated confidently.
During a visit to Vunayasi District School for the Anchor Breakfast program on Wednesday, she emphasised the importance of obedience to the students.
“If you are obedient and listen to your parents, you will be successful. I didn’t finish my education I opted to play, and I told my parents, they allowed me and reminded me one thing and that is to play at the highest level,” Buna said.
Originally from Naviti Yasawa, the 23-year-old joined Tagimoucia Ranadi Rugby Club before making her mark on the local 7s scene and eventually being scouted for the Nadi women’s 15s side in 2022.
Last year, she made her international debut in Japan and toured to Dubai.
Buna expressed her gratitude for her supportive family, especially her parents, who, despite her desire to celebrate New Year’s in the village, insisted she focus on training.
Meanwhile, Kadavu native Loraini Senivutu says they have taken a lot of learning from their Brumbies game and know the Rebels will be tough.
