The Navuakece side is ready to claim the Tier 2 Central Women’s Club Games title after defeating Colo-i-Suva 34-0 in their semi-final clash in Suva last weekend. The Central Women’s Club Games features women’s rugby clubs and associations from the districts of Suva, Naitasiri, Tailevu and Nasinu.
Team manager Asenaca Takitaki praised the players for their preparation and determination, saying their hard work paid off on the field and they will work harder to win the title.
“I thank them for the teamwork shown in the win,” Takitaki said.
She said the team focused heavily on defence and communication during training leading up to the match, areas Takitaki believes were key to their success.
“Our coach told the girls that they needed to improve on their defence and communication on the field ahead of the final on Saturday.”
Takitaki acknowledged the commitment shown by the players despite the challenges they go through personally.
“One of the challenges we faced with the girls are financial support because most are unemployed and some are still studying, but that does not stop them from turning up for training,” Takitaki said.
She also thanked the management team, coaches, and families for their continuous support throughout the campaign.
With a grand Tier 2 final showdown looming, Takitaki said the team’s mission remains clear.
“Our aim is to win the title, but it will all depend on God’s plan, “she said.
The Navuakece side will face Striders in the Tier 2 final at 12.45pm at Veiuto grounds tomorrow.
