The 64th Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Convention will be held in Navua next year from April 3–6.
President of the Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji, Dhirendra Nand, said preparations are already progressing well for what is expected to be one of the biggest gatherings of the Sanatan community.
“We are looking forward to the convention next year. It’s going to be a big convention, which Navua will host,” Nand said.
He confirmed that all 31 Sanatan branches in Fiji will take part, along with eight to ten overseas teams who will also attend.
“Preparations are going well. We are getting logistics done, and most of the groundwork has been completed. Now we are in the process of identifying sponsors and co-sponsors,” he said.
The annual convention will feature a full sporting program, including both indoor and outdoor events. The men’s and women’s football competitions will include veterans, masters, open grade, and under-17 categories.
“We also have netball, volleyball, golf and snooker, and there will be fun sports as well,” Nand added.
Lautoka hosted this year’s convention, where Rewa won the Open Grade football title, defeating Cuvu in the final.
Navua last hosted the Sanatan Convention in 2004 and will get the chance to host it again 22 years later.
Venues expected to be used during the four-day event include the Uprising Sports Complex, Thomson Park, Vashist Muni Institute and Rampur Institute.
The Sanatan Convention is traditionally held during the Easter long weekend each year.
