NAVUA will look to correct its mistakes from the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants when it competes in the FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) kicks off tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The side’s coach Rodicks Singh said discipline and finishing would be key areas of focus as Navua prepares for another demanding tournament.

He said the team had learned valuable lessons from the BOG in Ba last month and were out to ensure the mistakes resulting in those lessons were not repeated at the IDC.

“Discipline is a major one. We want to stay disciplined as we do not want to lose our place early, especially when it could affect us in the later stages,” Singh said.

The coach said finishing was another area needing improvement since Navua missed several scoring opportunities during the BOG.

“We are trying to sharpen our finishing and make sure we don’t repeat the same mistakes,” he said.

Navua will also enter the tournament without any major injury concerns, with the coach hoping his players remain fit throughout the competition.

He said the team understood the challenge ahead, with every side determined to progress from its pool.

“Every team will come prepared. Every team will want to qualify from this group,” he said.

The coach said Navua needed to improve on its previous performance and produce a more consistent showing at the IDC with a strong finish in Group A.

“We need to really improve and make sure that we see ourselves out of this group,” he said.

With the tournament being held in Suva, the coach also urged Navua supporters to make the trip and get behind the team throughout the competition.

Navua is grouped with Ba, Lautoka and Nadi.

They meet Nadi in their first pool match tomorrow at 1.30pm.
