Nasinu FC was able to secure their first win of the Digicel Premier League season after defeating Tailevu/Naitasiri 1-0 in round six of the competition at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday.

Head coach Tagi Vonolagi said being able to secure their first win was a huge achievement for the team, looking at the challenges they face in preparing for each match.

“I am very proud of the boys today for being able to get our first win,” Vonolagi said.

“Some of the biggest challenges we face is the availability of playing ground.”

According to Vonolagi, the side trains daily at their president’s compound, as schools and other ground owners do not give consent to the team to use the ground for training.

“And it’s always hard for us because sometimes it can be discouraging for the boys.

“However, this win today has boosted the team’s morale and they will definitely be working harder this week for our next match.”

The side features a young pool of players, with players as young as 14 years old on the team.

“Most of our senior players have moved to other clubs while a few are still here.

“But the majority of the boys here are all young and new players.”
