THE MV Southern Phoenix has been removed from the Suva Harbour.

FPCL chief executive officer Vajira Piyasena said the container vessel sank at the south-end of the Kings Wharf on May 6, 2017.

He said approximately $1m alone was spent to mobilize the salvaging equipment by Pacific Towing Company a Limited (PACTOW) to Fiji at the vessel owner’s cost.

Mr Piyasena said FPCL remained hopeful that other derelict vessel owners would utilize this opportunity to have their vessels removed from the area within the Suva port boundary.
