Four-time winners Suva need to get points on the board or hope teams below them keep losing matches if they are to play at this year’s Digicel Fiji FACT tournament.
With two rounds of competition remaining in the Digicel Fiji Premier League, Suva sits on eighth position with five points, one above ninth-placed Tailevu Naitasiri and two above bottom-placed Nasinu.
Suva plays Lautoka in the national league this Sunday and a loss for them may see them drop to the bottom two if Tailevu Naitasiri and Nasinu avoid losses.
Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf said only the top eight would qualify for the Fiji FACT and the rules are in place for everybody.
“Suva has won the Fiji FACT a few times, but the rules are for everybody. They need to make the cut if not they will miss out,” Yusuf said.
Suva has won two of the last three Fiji FACT titles, winning it in 2020 and 2022 under the leadership of former president Ritesh Pratap.
Meanwhile, Suva plays Lautoka at the Fiji Football Academy Ground in Vatuwaqa at 1pm on Sunday. Nasinu battles Navua in the second match at the same venue at 3pm.
In another match on Sunday, Tailevu Naitasiri battles Nadroga at 1pm at Nausori’s Ratu Cakobau Park.
Two matches will be played on Saturday. Labasa will host Ba in the feature match of the weekend at 2pm at Subrail Park whiwle table leaders Rewa takes on Nadi at 7pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.
