FORMER All Blacks centre and Pulse Energy Highlanders coach, Aaron Mauger is confident of a good match against the Gallagher Chiefs at the ANZ Stadium in Suva today.

Mauger, after three days of preparation in Suva since arriving on Tuesday, said the encounter would be important because of the teams’ standings in the Super Rugby New Zealand Conference.

“We have prepared accordingly for this game,” he said.

“Our last encounter was a tough one and we’re hoping to improve on some of the areas. Having Fiji as our home game is fantastic.

“It is about picking up where we left off, and we have improved on a couple of performances against the Hurricanes.

“We were good defensively and the players really felt pressured and we had a lot of opportunities to capitalise on.

“For the past three weeks, we have been tidying up on some of our weaknesses.”
The Highlanders will play the Chiefs at 7.35pm tonight.
