When it comes to beating players on the field, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua centre Iosefo Masi is currently the best in the Super Rugby Pacific competition.

The 26-year-old leads the Super Rugby Pacific standings for most number of defenders beaten with a total of 41 players.

Following in behind is Mark Tele’a from the Blues with 38 players beaten while Timoci Tavatavanawai comes in third place with 34 players.

Fijian Drua head coach Mick Byrne says Masi’s work ethic is what sets him apart from other players in his side, and other teams in the competition.

“He is a very special player, and what sets him apart from the rest of the team is his work ethic,” Byrne said.

“His ability to change directions despite his footing is another factor that makes him so special along with his speed and agility.”

Byrne said his performance on the field during the match against the Hurricanes last weekend spoke volumes of what he is capable of.

“I mean just look at the way he played on Friday, he was very hard working and showed a lot of strength in his performance.”

Meanwhile, following in fourth place ahead of Super Rugby stars such as Damien McKenzie and Kini Naholo is Drua winger Selestino Ravutaumada with 34 players beaten this season.
