The body of a man was found floating in the Labasa River earlier today, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased is believed to be a former sports personality.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
The discovery is one of two cases under investigation following the recovery of bodies in the Northern and Western divisions.
In a separate incident, a woman was found lying motionless near a complex in Nadi on the morning of October 15.
Her body was recovered and taken to the Nadi Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
Investigators are also working to establish the woman’s identity.
Police are urging anyone with information that could assist with either investigation to call 1681.
Investigations into both cases continue.
