Man on drug charge told to file formal bail application

A 20-YEAR-old man charged with one count of being found in possession of illicit drugs appeared at the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.

It is alleged that Lomani Waqalevu, without lawful authority, was found in possession of 20.2 grams of marijuana on January 13, 2019, in Nasinu.

Police prosecutor Constable Setareki Mocevakaca served the full phase disclosures and objected to Mr Waqalevu’s bail on the grounds that there was an increase in drug cases in Fiji.

Mr Waqalevu informed the court that he would be representing himself.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele has adjourned the case to tomorrow (January 17) for Mr Waqalevu to file a formal bail application.
