SEVEN local based players will contest for a spot against the overseas based ruggers in the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians squad for the June Test against Samoa this Saturday.

Coach John McKee said the local players have shown improvements contesting for their positions in the team.

“I’m impressed with the performance of the new players like Eroni Mawi and Veremalua Vugakoto and they will give a good run against experienced players for their positions in the final line-up,” said McKee.

The local based players part of the team are Serupepeli Vularika, Frank Lomani, Alivereti Veitokani, Ratu Naisa Navuma, Eroni Mawi, Ratu Veremalua Vugakoto and Mosese Voka.

Fiji will take on Samoa in their first test match at 3.30pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
