Despite today’s poor Suva weather conditions, a group of dedicated leaders under the Leadership Fiji 2020 program held their poetry slam and spoken word event on the theme ‘International Day of Peace’ that falls on September 21.

Melissa Harm, the Tilapia group’s spokesperson for the Tilapia Advocacy Project, said she was happy they had organised such an event and with that theme.

She said trying to get young people involved and to know and understand what ‘peace’ meant to them and to their everyday life.

The event was held at Sukuna Park.

Tilapia is the name of one of the groups under the Leadership Fiji program; and this project is among a list of community initiatives they undertake as part of their one-year program.

More details on this story will be published in tomorrow’s edition of The Sunday Times.
