LAMI Primary School was a sea of colours and characters as both pre-school and primary students observed the library week today at their school dressed in their favourite story character.

Speaking at the event, school headteacher Ruci Robarobalevu said the day was celebrated by children to recognise and reinforce the importance of reading.

“It is important that we read relevant books and understand what the book says because reading adds onto the knowledge of what the teacher has already given us,” Ms Robarobalevu said.

“As readers, we become richer in our knowledge of what the teacher has taught.

“Reading is a very important and an essential part of our academic life, it is our lifeblood to our success.”

The theme for this week’s event is ‘Libraries Bringing Strong Communities’.
