Government is set to pass the Employment Relations Amendment Bill 2025 in the next Parliament sitting.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka made the announcement during the FTUC 51st Biennial Delegates Conference in Nadi yesterday.
“Today (Saturday) I wish to assure workers across Fiji that the Bill will be tabled during the next sitting of Parliament,” Mr Rabuka said.
“The Government remains committed to its passing without any further unnecessary delay.
“And that was the commitment we made to the people of Fiji.”
Mr Rabuka said for too long many workers have lived with uncertainties, frustration and neglect.
“Government recognises those grievances and we are determined to establish a modern data framework that protects the rights, promotes fairness and strengthens resilience, and align Fiji with international labour standards fit for the challenges of today and the challenges of the future.”
