Koya extends condolences to Japanese flood, landslide victims

FIJIAN Trade, Industry and Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya has extended condolences to the people of Japan where flooding and landslides have claimed more than 80 lives.

He made the remarks while opening the inaugural Fiji-Japan Trade and Investment Symposium in Nadi this morning.

According to CNN, about 2million people have also had to evacuate their homes in southwest Japan.

Reuters also reported that the death toll from torrential rain and landslides in western Japan rose to 81 people on Sunday, with dozens still missing after more than 2000, temporarily stranded in the city of Kurashiki, were rescued.
