KOMO’S winning run in the Super 8 Championship continued at Albert Park yesterday, with a four-wicket victory over Nadi giving the side another boost in Pool B.
Nadi batted first and posted 117 runs for the loss of nine wickets, setting Komo a target of 118 runs.
Komo responded confidently, reaching 118 for six wickets in 25 overs to complete the chase and claim another valuable victory.
Vice-captain Waisea Rabuli praised his teammates for their effort but said the match also gave the side important lessons to take forward.
“We could put in more effort in the field,” Rabuli said.
He said the game highlighted areas Komo could improve as they continue their campaign.
“It showed a lot on the field, the weaknesses in our fielding,” he said.
Despite those concerns, Rabuli was pleased with the way the team handled Nadi’s challenge and credited their opponents for making the match competitive.
“Nadi gave a good score for us to beat,” he said.
The vice-captain was also grateful for the commitment shown by his teammates throughout the contest.
“Grateful for the boys’ effort,” Rabuli said.
He also acknowledged Nadi for the challenge they provided.
“Grateful for Nadi for putting up a good match,” he said. The victory moved Komo to four points in Pool B after they opened their campaign with a win over Suva on the first day, earning two points.
The result gives Komo confidence heading into the next stage of their pool campaign, while also providing areas for the team to work on.
Komo will now face Ono-i-Lau today at 12.30pm, with another opportunity to strengthen their position and continue their positive start.
For Rabuli and his teammates, the focus will be on building from the positives of the Nadi victory while tightening up the areas that need attention.
The successful chase showed Komo’s ability to respond under pressure, while their fielding performance has given the side a clear area to improve before their next match. With another challenge ahead, Komo will be looking to carry their confidence, teamwork and determination into today’s encounter as they continue their push in the Super 8 Championship.
