Kadavu USA targets 24-hour supply for island schools

PEOPLE of Kadavu who now reside in the United States of America have joined hands to give back to their village by providing a new solar system to power Kadavu Provincial Secondary School.

This initiative was provided by the Kadavu USA Committee at a total cost of FJD$124,331.08.

School principal Litiana Romanu said through the first project, they saw a huge improvement in the external exam marks last year compared to previous years.

A total of 143 students attend the school, out of which 70 per cent are boarders.

Kadavu USA Committee chairperson Peni Musunamasi said they were working on another project to provide 24/7 power supply through solar hybrid power to other schools like Richmond Methodist High and Primary School.

He added the committee had raised USD$150,000 for this project.
