LAUTOKA Football Association president Abdul Kadar yesterday confirmed he would contest for the president position at the Lautoka FA annual general meeting next week.

His term will end next week after taking up the position in 2015.

Kadar said he had a lot to offer Lautoka soccer and would try his best to continue to lift the team to new heights in the near future.

Under his leadership, Lautoka won the Battle of Giants in 2016, Champions Versus Champions, Vodafone Premier League and Courts IDC in 2017.

Last year, Lautoka successfully defended the VPL and the national league titles together with the Pacific Cup title.

He also led the side to Lautoka’s best ever O’League finish after losing in the final last year.

He said his team had achieved a lot during their reign and would continue to do better if given another chance to lead.

“I want to continue from where I left off in the past three years,” said Kadar.

“With my current set of officials we had a good four seasons and proudly say that we managed to put lost glory and did bring back some glory to the city but not all.

“During the AGM there will also be the election for all of the office bearers, that is for the president, secretary, treasurer, assistant Secretary and the VPs.”

Kadar also welcomed candidates who had Lautoka soccer at heart to contest for the position.

“With the elections coming up I would like to make a call to people out there who may have better idea of investing developing Lautoka football to even greater heights. I have been reliably informed by a few clubs that there is one person who is currently part of the executive team who is currently working behind and forming groups and meeting the club delegates seeking their support.

“It has been brought to us that this particular person is writing petitions and asking the clubs to sign. As for me I am always there for Lautoka and if people want to run the association then they are more than welcome to run, as Lautoka FA does not belong to no one.”

The AGM will be held on February 28.
