Former Super Welterweight champion Jese Ravudi will be making his return to the ring at the Blue Water Boxing Promotions event since his last bout in December last year.
The Naitasiri man step into the ring in for Rakuro Daunivavana, who pulled out from the event due to the recent passing of his mother.
This was confirmed by tournament promoter Samir Khan yesterday. Ravudi, with less than a week’s notice, will be facing New Zealand’s Dylan Archer in the light middleweight 6×3 bout for the event.
“We had to bring in Ravudi because Rakuro pulled out just three days ago,” Khan said.
“We are all understanding of his decision because of the recent passing of his mother.”
Meanwhile, Ravudi made his last appearance in the ring against Fiji boxing icon Winston Hill in December last year.
“We are happy that Ravudi is willing to come on board with less than a week’s notice,” Khan said.
Weigh-ins will be held at 1pm today at Terry Walk in Suva.
Fans and supporters are encouraged to attend and witness the event along with opponent faceoffs as well.
Boxing Commission of Fiji chairman Adi Narayan says everything regarding the event was on schedule, and he was expecting a huge turnout to the event at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala Bay, Suva on Saturday night.
“Apart from Rakuro pulling out, everything else is on schedule and we are looking forward to the event,” Narayan said.
“Having two international boxers will make the event an exciting one, along with the Haider and Ali fight which I know everyone is looking forward to.”
The event will start at 5pm tomorrow and will conclude at 10pm.
