There has been a spike in interest in netball at Christian Mission Fellowship Primary School ever since they joined the Suva Primary Schools Netball Association competition in 2018.

CMF Primary under-10 team manager Sarah Lalabalavu said this year a lot more girls have raised their hands to be part of their respective teams. They have a team in each grade starting from under-9 to 14.

“I think this year we are blessed with the numbers because some of the girls that were part of tag rugby have availed themselves for netball,” she said.

“Tag rugby and netball have always been happening at the same time. This year tag rugby is happening in August and netball in term one, so it gives more opportunity for more girls to participate.”

“In previous years we struggled with the numbers especially in the senior grades because most of them were involved in other sports, but we are fortunate and blessed this year because netball is happening in the first term.”

Sports has proven to be a character building tool and the CMF Primary coaches have noticed that amongst their players.

Their U14 team holds the title in that grade.
