EDUCATION Minister Aseri Radrodro has called on schools, teachers, parents and communities to strengthen HIV and drug abuse awareness among young people as schools around Fiji celebrated Fiji Day 2026.
Mr Radrodro emphasised the importance of prevention, accurate information and reducing stigma, urging collective efforts to protect students’ wellbeing and prepare them to become responsible citizens.
Schools across Fiji celebrated Fiji Day in bright colours, showcasing the nation’s cultural diversity, unity and shared commitment to building an inclusive society.
Mr Radrodro said this year’s theme, “An inclusive Fiji for a better tomorrow”, highlighted the importance of ensuring every child, regardless of background or ability, has equal opportunities to learn, participate and succeed.
As part of the celebrations, secondary school students in the Central Division demonstrated their knowledge and confidence through the Fiji Day oratory contest, under the theme “Empowering youth against HIV and drug abuse”.
Mr Radrodro also encouraged schools to continue addressing HIV and drug-related issues through awareness programs that promote informed choices, prevention and understanding among young people.
He stressed that building an inclusive Fiji began with how people treated one another, calling on families, schools and communities to work together towards a safer, healthier and more united future for all Fijians.
