FIJI’S locally-owned financial institution HFC Bank has partnered with the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children  (FENC) in Fiji with a $10,000 sponsorship.

HFC Bank general manager Retail Banking Tony Ram said the institution was deeply honoured to give back to the community.

“FENC Fiji works tirelessly in making education accessible to the poorest of the poor children in Fiji and empowering them to break the cycle of poverty,” Mr Ram said.

He said education was an essential aspect of a child’s life, a necessity vital to their future in society and employment.

“The onus is on us to provide these young minds with the tools to become sustainable and resourceful citizens.

“This sponsorship is in line with HFC Bank’s strategy to continually engage in community development and its commitment to ensure socio-economic growth at all levels of our society.”

FENC Fiji chairperson Ratu Meli Vesikula said: “On behalf of the poorest of the poor children of Fiji and the management of FENC Fiji, I would like to thank HFC Bank for their most generous donation to the community which portrays the spirit of love and care towards those who are less fortunate in our society.”

“We admire and respect the spirit of kindness in launching this new partnership, which will benefit the poor children of Fiji in the years to come,” Mr Vesikula said.

The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) is a national initiative, registered under the Charitable Trusts Act (Cap 67) to serve as a voluntary, non-political, not-for-profit, cause-oriented organisation that would provide educational and related support to the children of poor families in Fiji.
