PROFESSIONAL women in Fiji must stop putting their own health on the back burner, says Lautoka Aspen Hospital consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Nanise Sikiti.
Speaking to members of the Fiji Women Lawyers Association (FWLA) and the Network of Women Professionals (NeWPro) during the inaugural FWLA and NeWPro Pinktober event at the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa on October 30, Dr Sikiti highlighted the stark reality of cancer across the country.
“Cancer doesn’t care about your profession,” she said.
“It doesn’t care whether you’ve got a court case tomorrow or not.”
Dr Sikiti challenged the room of legal professionals to use their influence to drive change in their communities and workplaces.
FWLA treasurer Ranika Devi said NeWPro was established to bring together women leaders from diverse fields to foster collaboration and build stronger community networks across Fiji.
Fiji Cancer Society western branch representative Vokili Ali praised the initiative, reinforcing the vital message that early testing saves lives.
