FWCC notes decreased case registration

Update: 2:38PM THE Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) has noted a decrease in the number of cases registered this year.

According to FWCC coordinator Shamima Ali, the FWCC had registered 1532 cases this year, representing a decrease from 2288 cases in 2016.

Ms Ali said the rise of other support organisations could have contributed to the decrease in women calling the centre for help.

“I believe there are other organisations that are doing similar work like children’s help, which handles child abuse and domestic violence helpline,” Ms Ali said.

“There is a lot of awareness raised by faith-based organisations and Police.”
