The permanent secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong announced 126 new cases in the 24 hour period ending at 8am earlier in the day.
He also reported another death at CWM Hospital of a 42-year-old male admitted to hospital with leptospirosis. He also tested positive for COVID-19 during his admission. His death is being investigated by his doctors to determine if it will be classified as a COVID-19 death.

- 59 recoveries since the last update;
- 1542 active cases now in isolation;
- 2020 cases so far during the outbreak that started in April 2021;
- 2090 cases in total in Fiji since the first case was reported in March, 2020;
- 532 recoveries in total to date, and 7 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 5 of these deaths during the current outbreak;
- 8 COVID-19 positive patients have died from pre-existing non-COVID-19 related illnesses; and
- 1 death is under investigation.

Jittu brawl
AN all-out brawl involving scores of people – both young and old – in Jittu Estate, Suva last Sunday was “the eruption of small skirmishes” that was taking place in the community over the past week. Residents who spoke to The Fiji Times on the condition of anonymity said trouble had been brewing in the community with a series of incidents involving women which began last Thursday.

RESIDENTS of Jittu Estate, Suva, said a fight in the settlement on Sunday was the climax of a series of disturbances that had occurred over the past week.
Father disappointed
THE father of a teenager who was arrested in relation to the melee at Jitu Estate, Suva, on Sunday says he is disappointed with the inaction of the community’s crime stoppers committee (CSC).
