A 33-year-old man who was previously handed a suspended sentence for similar offences in Nadi has now been charged in connection with a series of alleged temple sacrilege incidents in Ba.
The accused, from Varavu in Ba, faces three counts of sacrilege and six counts of breach of an order of suspended sentence.
Police allege the man unlawfully entered three temples in the Ba area and stole religious statues, which were later found damaged.
The latest charges come after the accused was previously convicted of similar offences in Nadi and handed a suspended sentence.
He is now accused of committing further offences while subject to that sentence.
The man was arrested following investigations into the alleged incidents at the three temples.
He is expected to appear at a special sitting of the Ba Magistrates Court today.
