A FORMER Special Constable has been found guilty for one count of theft by the Nausori Magistrates Court today.

The court heard that Luse Bulivou entered into a jewellery store and stole a gold chain valued at $150 on September 12, 2015, in Nausori.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said during the trial, Bulivou claimed that the chain was stuck to her phone, however, the CCTV footage clearly showed that when she was approached by the manager, her phone was at the counter.

He said after being confronted with the CCTV footage, Bulivou then took the chain out of the side pocket of her bag.

Magistrate Somaratne said Bulivou intentionally tried to take the chain out of the shop.

The case has been adjourned to Monday, October 22 for mitigation.
