THE Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) will review the Special Death Benefit (SDB) to make it equitable and sustainable.

FNPF chairperson Ajith Kodagoda said collaborative stakeholder engagement would be undertaken, inclusive of public consultations to solicit the views of its members.

Mr Kodagoda said any new retirement product and changes to the SDB would require legislative amendments before they were launched.

“The role of the Fund in addressing the wider social security issues is also on our agenda. Subject to feasibility, the Fund will explore opportunities to provide medical insurance and affordable housing scheme for our members. In doing so, we will also align our investment strategies to areas that support the social security needs of all Fijians,” Mr Kodagoda said.

He said they would actively engage with the Government, the Reserve Bank of Fiji and other stakeholders in pursuing their strategies.

“Together we can do a lot for our members and for all Fijians,” he said.
