Fans and spectators can expect to see the return of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula in this weekend’s round 10 Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Moana Pacifika at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
The 20-year-old is back with the side after returning from the funeral of a loved one in New Zealand.
This was confirmed by head coach Mick Byrne during a press conference yesterday.
“He’s just got back from his grandfather’s funeral last week and he’s in training with the team where he will be presenting himself for selection this weekend,” Byrne said.
“We’re happy to be having him back after spending time with his family, but he has been training very hard with the team.”
Armstrong-Ravula did not miss any of the Drua matches in the past seven rounds and is expected to feature this weekend in the number 10 jersey.
“He’s been welcomed by his Fijian brothers here in the team, and he seems all set for Saturday if selected to run out against the Moana Pacifika.”
Meanwhile, filling in for Armstrong-Ravula’s position at last Friday’s match was 19-year-old Isikeli Rabitu, who Byrne thinks was able to deliver what was expected of him.
“I think he delivered what was expected of him this weekend.
“We have expectations from the team and for all our players no matter the age.
“But at the same time, we’re also developing and molding our younger players.
“Like for Rabitu, you don’t have players who become stars at 19 years old, so him to deliver what was expected of him on Friday and I am happy with his performance.”
