On a scale from one to 10, Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s coach Osea Kolinisau rated his team’s fitness level at five.

Fitness was an area the former Fiji 7s captain highlighted since he took over the coaching job from Ben Gollings in March.

The team resumed training on Monday in preparation for the Singapore 7s next month with Kolinisau focusing on specific key areas.

“This session is just to see where the boys left off and we want to continue from there. We are not there yet, we are still working on our fitness, on our tackle techniques and it’s good to see the boys all in,” the Olympics gold medal winning captain stated.

“Maybe we are around five right now in a scale of one to 10, we are not there yet.”

The goal is to pick up from where they left off in Hong Kong.

“We felt like we gave that tournament away, we had our chances. We had six mistackles which was too much.

“We were up 12-7 against New Zealand and we had four straight opportunities to capitalise on and I think if we had scored another try, we should have finished that game off. It comes with time and the boys will have to learn the lessons the hard way, some are teachable, but some will be learnt when they play,” he added.

Four new squad members were part of their training session yesterday.

Veteran Jerry Tuwai was also present in training, working on his form. || FIJI 7S MEN || ON a scale from one to 10, Fiji Airways Fiji men’s
