STAKEHOLDERS involved in the fisheries sector will now have an easy means of accessing information about the industry.

This after the Ministry of Fisheries launched its official website at the Holiday Inn in Suva today.

Fiji’s acting permanent secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries, Naipote Katonitabua, said the power of information technology for fisheries lay in its ability to provide a cost-effective platform for reaching out to people.
“By embracing information and communication technology, this dream can be realised and it is for this reason that today we are proud to unveil the new website as one of the many initiatives that uses information technology to contribute to the realisation of the ministry’s vision for the best sustainable fisheries sector for our future generation based on the blue economy,” Mr Katonitabua said.

He said it was, therefore, imperative that the ministry was at the forefront of providing the fisheries sector platform where their stakeholders could access the ever-changing world of ICT.
