A CHINESE delegation from Inner Mongolia is in Suva to promote the cultural exchange between China and Fiji, and participate in the celebrations of the National Day of China on October 1.

Fiji’s Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa welcomed the group members at the Traditional Chinese Moon Festival 2018 and the National Day of China hosted by the China Cultural Centre today.

“I extend my heartiest welcome to the delegation from Inner Mongolia who is in the country especially for this celebration. This is surely something we must all enjoy and I encourage all Fijians to take out their time and be part of these events,” Mrs Vuniwaqa said.

She said Fiji was lucky to have friends like the Government of the People’s Republic of China that had supported and helped in many ways by lending a hand “whilst letting us determine our destiny”.

The Moon Festival also known as the ‘Mid-autumn Festival’, ‘August Festival’ and ‘Reunion Festival’ is an important event marked in the Chinese calendar, and is also a momentous occasion for family reunions.
