THERE were two main paragraphs in a letter published in the Nai Lalakai newspaper on April 27, 2016 which were incorrect according to the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

Ministry of iTaukei Affairs permanent secretary Naipote Katonitabua clarified this during his re-examination by the State in the Fiji Times sedition trial at the High Court in Suva this morning.

Mr Katonitabua confirmed and read the first paragraph which was translated by the court interpreter as “Also mention in the petition that if Khaiyum flees us to his place of origin which is Asia, indigenous will be buried with debts which will be more and more burden to our grandchildren in trying to clear it.”

He however said the other paragraph which was incorrect was in regards to the land being mentioned in the letter being Serua, Lodoni, Namena and Dawasamu including all 14 provinces in Fiji.

The trial continues this afternoon.
