Netball Fiji chief executive officer Vivian Koster has confirmed that members of the Fiji Pearls Under-21 side preparing for the Netball Youth World Cup next year will be undergoing a major training camp in July.

Netball Fiji has long begun with preparations for the World Cup since late last year, and training sessions for the extended squad have been ongoing for the past few months.

“Preparations have been going well and we had a full fitness test last Saturday.

“This allowed us to gauge where everyone sits in the various tests and set future benchmarks,” she said.

“We are still waiting for the under-21 coach who is still overseas, but we will be having a major camp for the side in July.”

Koster says they will be looking to host an international match for the under-21 side in August to help with the preparations for the World Cup.

She said the final squad should be selected before the Oceania Qualifiers in September.

“We will have a team in place for tournaments in August and September.

“But the squad will remain in place until 2025 when we will name the team to the Netball World Youth Cup.

“The qualifiers will be held in Cook Islands in September, so we are also preparing for this as well.”
