THE Crest Fiji Pearls suffered a 53-47 close defeat to Singapore in their opening clash of the Spirit Series yesterday.
Despite the loss, the Fiji Pearls remained competitive throughout the contest, with Singapore doing enough in the closing stages to secure the six-goal victory.
The match provided another valuable opportunity for the Fiji Pearls to test combinations and continue building under new head coach Michelle Parsons, who took charge of the national side last month.
Although Fiji fell short on the scoreboard, the match offered further experience for the squad as it continues its development and preparations for future international competitions.
The Fiji Pearls will now shift their focus to their remaining fixtures as they look to build on the lessons from the defeat and continue improving with each outing.
