THE Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption will be finalising its civilian witness statement in the case against Social Democratic Liberal Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

Mr Rabuka appeared before Suva Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa today.

He is charged with one count of providing false declaration of his assets, income and liabilities.

Mr Rabuka’s lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo told Magistrate Boseiwaqa that his client would be out of Suva from July 11 until July 20.

Mr Vosarogo said they would inform the Court of his intention to travel in writing as well.

It is alleged that on December 29 last year, Mr Rabuka provided a false declaration of assets and liabilities to the Supervisor of Elections by failing to provide information, namely the tax liability with Fiji Revenue and Customs Service in the amount of $316,956.20, the investment and interest income with said Raghwan Construction Ltd in the amount of $120,000 contrary to the Political Parties Act.

The matter has been adjourned to July 27.
