The family who lost their 16-month-old son in Mulomulo, Nadi in the weekend is pleading for justice as bruises were seen on his head.
Although police stated the deceased was found floating in the river, his dad Charles Ryan and family believe otherwise.
Mr Ryan said they found him motionless on a rock of the Mulomulo riverbank in Nadi.
“We found him lying there on Saturday afternoon a little after 5pm and we believe he didn’t drown,” he said.
“We are calling on police to investigate the cause of death.
“My son was the life of this house. He was my angel.”
His wife Alivani Serenato said they conducted a search when she discovered her son missing from the house on the same Saturday afternoon.
She claimed there were bruises on his head and it was rather unusual that he would walk alone to the river considering the location of their house which was 150 metres away.
“We called the police straight away and they only arrived today (yesterday),” the emotional mother shared.
He was our only son, so innocent and way too young to have died in such a manner.
“All we want is justice and we hope investigations are carried out accordingly.”
Police said the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident was under investigation.
