ANIL Deo and his family were sleepless last night as they feared floodwaters would enter their two-bedroom wooden home at Waidamudamu settlement in Nakasi, Nausori.

Mr Deo returned from Labasa yesterday and wasted no time, evacuating his family and livestock to higher ground.

“This place is always flooded and this is the first time it has come into our house,” the 46-year-old said. Meanwhile, motorists have been advised that Dilkusha Rd in Nausori is closed until further notice after a landslip yesterday.

Fiji Roads Authority confirmed two vehicles were pushed down towards the river bank because of the impact of the slip, however, no major injuries or fatalities were reported.
