The inclusive culture of paving the way for greater female participation and working on their leadership journey needs to be embraced by the private and public sectors.
Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) board president Vinay Narsey also challenged his male colleagues to provide an enabling platform for that change.
In his address at the closing of the two-day 3rd Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention at the GPH in Suva on Saturday night, Mr Narsey said it was forums such as the WIN Convention that provided invaluable opportunities for dialogue and exchange of ideas that enabled an environment for the much-needed participation of women.
He said the past two days had been a testament to the strength of the women’s empowerment movement.
Reiterating the message highlighted by Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya, he said Fiji could not afford to leave half of its population behind.
“By investing in women’s economic empowerment with a women-centred approach, we are investing in a more prosperous and sustainable future for all,” Mr Narsey said.
“Recognising your collective strength and contributions to society is paramount
. “Through WEBC (Women Entrepreneurs Business Council), your voices resonate, and help influence policies and behaviours to promote growth and equity.
“Let us carry forth the lessons learnt here to bring positive changes within our organisations and communities.
“Let us support each other to be better each day.”
