Fiji 7s team coach Saiasi Fuli is rebooting the national side’s campaign in the Dubai 7s this weekend.
Fuli has demanded the best from his players after they fell short of the cup final at the weekend.
The former Fiji 7s halfback said players needed to improve in order for the team to bounce back.
“There are a lot of learning from last weekend,” Fuli said.
“There is a lot of work to be done this week. We have to be clinical, stay composed, manage our time well and manage our rugby from the first to the last whistle.”
Fuli said the team had assessed their performance on the weekend.
“It is a matter of how well we can adjust, how well we can bounce back, how well we can prepare mentally and physically and have a good recovery and be ready and freshen up for the second tournament.”
Fiji lost to USA in the men’s semi-finals 19-21. Fuli said this week would be very, very tough.
“We started well on the first day against good oppositions France, Canada and Australia.
“Then we came out victorious against a very tough, physical and aggressive Kenya, but we fell short against USA.
“Looking at the last two games against USA and Argentina, it came back to those little issues such as decision making under duress and under pressure.
“For the Fijiana 7s team, they played their hearts out to reach the final, but unfortunately they lost 7- 22 to Australia. Fuli said it was a historical achievement for the girls to reach their first final.
“I know they fell short against Australia. There is a lot of learning since they were beaten by Australia. I believe they will bounce back and map out their plan for the second week.
“It is always tough to play in a back to back tournament. They did their recovery and hopefully they can train well and be ready again for the weekend.”
The Fiji 7s team is in Pool C against France, Spain and Argentina.
