DREKETI coach Ravinesh Singh credited his side’s high-pressing game plan for their success at the FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC), where the side took home the trophy for the senior division. The side had defeated Bua 1-0 in the final at the HFC Bank stadium yesterday.
Singh said the team had entered the competition with a clear mission to win the title, and he was proud of the players’ commitment despite the challenges they faced.
“Our main aim for this final was high pressure, and we got the high pressure and we scored,” Singh said.
He said the team maintained its attacking approach throughout the competition, refusing to allow opponents time and space to settle into their game.
Singh also praised the quality of their opponents, saying the tough competition had tested his players.
He acknowledged the challenge of adapting to a new playing surface but said the team remained committed to its game plan.
“Even when we were winning by three in some games, it was high press, high press, and the boys gave 100 per cent,” he said.
Singh thanked the people of Labasa and Dreketi for their support throughout the tournament, along with the team’s sponsors and Fiji Football.
