WE are not here to talk about racial differences, says FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
While speaking to supporters in Tavua, the Attorney-General took aim at his major political opponents who he claimed have been appealing to voters using race and religion as a drawcard.
“We are not here to give a speech about election or racial differences,” he said.
“We want to talk about policies but we are being forced to talk to you about these things.
“This is our request that you do not get carried away with these words.”
He said politicians such as NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad and Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry had been telling supporters not to believe him.
“They’re saying don’t believe Khaiyum because he hasn’t harvested sugar cane before.
“So now I should become a cane cutter to run an economy? This is all nonsense.
“Don’t fall for that nonsense.”
The FFP general secretary added that voters had the choice to choose the people they wanted in government.
“Running a government is a very serious matter.
“You have the power to decide if you want to go forward or backwards.”
