Through her service to God, Lanieta Sivoinamalo has been able to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

The 57-year-old retired iTaukei Land Trust Board personal assistant has committed her life after retirement to doing God’s work.

Born in Mualevu Village on Vanuabalavu in Lau, her life changed when she and her parents moved to Suva when she was just a toddler.

Living in Nadonumai, Lami for more than 55 years, she balanced her career and her church responsibilities well.

“I retired in 2022 and after that I was fully committed to our church activities,” Ms Sivoinamalo says.

Husband, Waisea Sivoinamalo, a retired civil servant, is from Totoya in Lau. The couple have two children who are married and have their own families.

Ms Sivoinamalo worked as a personal assistant in the legal department in iTLTB for about 19 years.

“My work was very challenging, but I enjoyed my time at iTLTB,” she says.

“Now that I am retired, I miss my work because we were dealing with landowners on different issues every day and served all races of people.

“That’s something that I miss a lot.”

Ms Sivoinamalo says she is using her public relation skills in the church.

“My husband and myself are both in church and we are involved in changing the lives of people.

“We are the head stewards of our Suvavou sub-division.

“We have a great role to play and have to set examples for others as well, whether it is for your children, church members or members of the community.”

Ms Sivoinamalo has some tips to make women’s lives more enjoyable after retirement.

“Try to involve yourself in various activities, such as church programs, fellowships and women’s activities.

“Those who are interested in flowers, can do flower gardening, baking, sewing and weaving.

“Use your time to make your life interesting.

“Remember, retirement is not the end of your life, it’s just another chapter.”
