Digicel Labasa women’s football captain Sofi Diyalowai jotted her name down in history books scoring the first goal of the OFC Women’s Champions League in Papua New Guinea yesterday.

In a historic match against Samoa’s Kiwi FC, Diyalowai collected the ball just inside the opponent’s box and raced 45 meters to place the ball beyond the reach of the opposition stopper.

Labasa won their first match 6-nil. Labasa added two more goals in the first spell through a brace from Stella Naivalulevu. Unaisi Tuneri added two goals in the second spell while Adi Vulitikoro added another for a comfortable victory in the end.

Labasa takes on Solomon Islands Koloale FC in their second match at 2pm tomorrow.
