THE Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) is modernising its operations with new digital systems and an inclusion framework aimed at improving efficiency, accountability and access to services for sugarcane growers.
SCGF chairman Marika Luveniyali said the launch of the Document Management System, SCGF Chatbot and Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Framework marked a significant step in the Fund’s institutional transformation.
Speaking at the launch in Lautoka on Thursday, Mr Luveniyali said the Document Management System would improve the way the Fund managed information, records, approvals and institutional knowledge.
He said the system would also provide growers with real-time access to information while strengthening accountability within the organisation.
“More importantly, it will strengthen accountability,” Mr Luveniyali said.
He said the Fund was also embracing artificial intelligence as part of its digital transformation strategy.
The SCGF Chatbot will improve access to information and services, reflecting the growing use of artificial intelligence across businesses and economies worldwide, he added.
“Artificial intelligence is no longer something that belongs only to large corporations or advanced economies.
“It is already changing the way people access information and services around the world, and SCGF is adopting the same approach.”
Mr Luveniyali said the GEDSI Framework was equally important to the Fund’s business operations because SCGF served a diverse group of growers.
The framework will help ensure gender equality, disability and social inclusion are considered in the development of the Fund’s policies, products and services.
“Our policies must recognise that diversity.”
Mr Luveniyali said the framework would provide a stronger foundation for the Fund to respond to the different circumstances and challenges faced by growers.
He acknowledged Business Link Pacific for providing technical support and guidance in developing the GEDSI Framework.
